WRITER'S GROUPS
I met some people over the summer at, of all things, a creative writing class. Since both my wife and I are off over the summer,
we look for things like that to do just for the sake of doing something. It was a lot of fun, and as I said, we met a few people
during the class.
One of the ladies in particular, invited me to join a writing group near where I live called, The Life Journey's Writer's Club. They
have meetings once a month at one of the local libraries, but I haven't been able to attend any of them because I was coaching
in the fall. They are having their next meeting at the beginning of January and I can finally attend one of these meetings. But what
I was thinking was, this would be a grat venue to promote my book, even if only just a little. I mean, I wouldn't go there for the
soul purpose of promoting High School Heroes, or any of my other writings, but it wouldn't hurt to drop it into conversation from
time to time.
If you have any writer's groups in your area, you should join them. It took me almost three years to discover the one down here,
and only because I took a class over the summer. Some of these groups are not widely publicized, so you may have to go down
to your local libary and check out the bulletin boards to see when they might be meeting. Then, you go and you get to converse
with people that are interested int he same thing as you: Writing. A wonderful thing, no matter if you're looking to promote
yourself or not.
So get out from behind that computer and do some research. Find a writing group to join.
After my first meeting I will update you on this.
