WORKING WORKING WORKING

Okay, I've been working lately on a number of things. As I've said before, even
though you may have your novel ready, and a publisher has decided to publish
it, you still want to continue putting your work out there to keep yourself in the
spotlight.

I am doing that by having a couple of comics published out there. Here is just a
sample of the first page of the story called Guardian, which is planned to be out
in
IF-X sometime in the spring. The story is about a boy who is killed when he lets
his girlfriend drive his car, and how his spirit goes out in search of her.

However, this isn't about me. This is about keeping on working. My suggestion
this time, to keep your work out there, is to keep checking magazines that publish
your genre of fiction. I can guarantee, that no matter what you write, there is a
magazine out there that will publish it.

Now, magazines aren't only print anymore. More and more we are seeing
web sites that are dedicated to providing fiction for people to read. Like any
magazine, some pay and others don't. Here is the problem though with publishing
online: anyone, anywhere can get your story, even long after it's run on the website
has ended. If something like that makes you uncomfortable, you may want to stick
with the print publishers only.

I believe however, that these internet zines are an excellent place to get your stories in front of a great deal of readers and
maybe build a fanbase. Most of these zines will even allow you to put a link to your website at the end of your story. That - along
with a brief bio - can actually help you drive some traffic to your site. If someone likes your story, they are going to want to see
more, and that link to your website will be the way to do it.

This comic is but one project I am working on. This will be featured in a print mag. However, in the next few days, one of my sci-fi
shorts should be up on
Aphelion's Webzine within the next week or so. The thing about Aphelion, is that they not only allow you
to put your bio with a link to your website, it also allows you to get feedback from your readers. This is one of the other perks to
publishing online through a webzine.

Anyway, the point is, keep working. I don't think I can give you any other more valuable advice than that.
