BOOK RELEASE

It's finally here. After seemingly an eternity of waiting, the book is finally out. If you've ever had a book
released, or a story published, you can imagine the excitement I feel right now.

I know it's been nearly a month since I updated this blog, but as you can imagine, I have been very busy since
my last update. Since then, I've been:

1) Going through the proof of my novel, once again fixing any minor edits that needed fixing.
2) Looking over and making suggestions for my book cover.
3) Putting together press releases to announce my book.
4) Locating online book review sites to submit to.
5) Finding interviews for both online and in the newspaper.
6) Setting up locations to do book signings and run workshops.

It's an awful lot, but I have to tell you, and I know I've said this before, but if you want to be a successful author,
you really need to get yourself out there. No one is going to buy your book if they don't know about it, and you
can't rely on friends and family to sell your books for you.

I have noticed that even though since I started this blog nearly a year ago, I have been doing a lot of work. But
nothing compares to the amount of work I've been doing this last month in preparation of my book release.

However, I have to say, it's all been worth it. And the best part is, the book came out just in time for my first
event. I recieved my big box of books yesterday, and today is my first writing workshop. I'm doing an event at
Leonardtown Library for Teen Read Week. Tomorrow, I will tell all about it.

The other thing I've been doing, while setting up all these events is arranging to do my book launch party. I
plan on doing two of them actually, one here in Maryland, and the other up in New York. I want to do two
because while I live in Maryland, and can get some sales from friends, colleagues and students here, pretty
much my entire family is up in New York, plus many of my friends. So, doing two makes sense. I've been
focusing more on the New York one, and really have to get moving on the Maryland one. All a book launch
party is, is pretty much getting a bunch of people together, you do a reading and a book signing, and
hopefully sell a bunch of books.

Anyway, as the date keeps getting closer for your own book, consider stepping up the work. Keep yourself out
there. Keep persisting and you will do fine.

Until Next Time: Stop evil doers!
