BOOK READING

So, I did my very first book reading yesterday. It was fun, but not what I had expected.

Essentially, Java Scripts, this little coffee shop in Indian Head, Maryland, that my wife and I go to, had a children's workshop day.
She thought that since I am a young adult author, that I might like to do a short reading for the kids there. Of course I agreed, and
I brought down a few copies of
Island of Dren to read from and to sell.

I did my reading, and read one chapter of the story to about six kids that showed up on that dreary rainy day. They were a little
younger than the age group the book is intended, however, they still seemed to enjoy it. I was able to get my book into their
hands, and made a couple of sales. Plus, Carlette, the owner of Java Scripts, now has my book sitting on her shelf. So, I would
call the book reading a success.

Even small book readings can do something for you. So if you get booked to do one, and only end up reading to four or five
people, don't be discouraged. It might lead to some other things that will work out in your favor. The point is, big or small, you
should do as many of these things as you possibly can. Just remember, that exposure is exposure, no matter how big or small.

Until next time... Strive to be the best you can be.
