IT'S A LOT OF WORK

Whew! So, after setting up the website for several hours yesterday (which I'm still not done with by the way), I need to begin
working on other things. Essentially, while I continue updating the website, I am going to begin creating promotional materials.
Yes, it is early, and yes, there is still plenty of time to do this, but think about this, as the release date of the book gets closer, you
are going to have to: 1) Send out review copies to get reviews, 2) Schmooz your way into bookstores to do signings, and to get
your book on the shelves, 3) Send out flyers to do school visits, or talks at libraries, or any other author appearances, 4)
Interviews for radio, and newspaper, and (if you're especially lucky) television. So, with all these other things going on. How are
you going to have the time to BEGIN creating promotional materials? Yes, you might have to revamp some things down the
road, but we're talking about five to ten minutes to revamp, opposed to two or three hours to create.

So, I am going to go into my Microsoft Publisher, and create some three-fold brochures, that are going to feature a short excerpt
of High School Heroes, a brief bio of myself and the things that I do. At this point, since I have no cover art, I am going to reserve
space on the front for that. I am also going to list a brief lesson that I could do with children if I were to do a school visit or a talk
at a library. This is important, because it's sort of like selling yourself. A school isn't going to hire you to come in to speak to their
students if you don't have something valuable they can learn from it. The most important thing that has to go on this brochure is
contact info and an ISBN number for my book, and where people can get it. Let's face it, we're doing all this to sell books. If you
don't tell people where they can find it, then what's the point?

This brochure is just the beginning. Though it will probably be all I get to today, there is still plenty for me to do in the next few
days and weeks. It's a lot of work, but someone's got to do it.
