COMIC UPDATE
Okay, so some pretty fast work from Scott on these. What you see here
are the first two pages of the comic, completely pencilled and inked.
This is actually pretty quick work and normally doesn't happen like this.
Normally, an artist might take a few weeks before they get this kind of
work completed. So, I can honestly say that I am quite pleased with
Scott's work up to this point.
As you can see, the pages look pretty good in the black and white. And
even without words put on the page yet, you can follow the story that's
transpiring on these two pages. On the first page, you see Christine,
sitting in the stands, enjoying the football game with all the people
yelling around her. Then, she walks away, and watches some students
performing tricks on their skateboards, only to be interrupted by the
school bully, Tommy.
The story will get more fleshed out as the pages get colored, and then
lettered. But as you can see, this is off to a pretty decent start.
My next task will be to color these two pages myself. I'm going to use
Photoshop, with a technique that is not unlike what the old style
cartoon animators used to do, which would be essntially painting the
pictures BEHIND the lines already drawn on the page. It sounds
strange, but I can think of no other way to describe the process.
While I'm doing that, Scott should hopefully be working on the next
pages, so that when these are done, I will be able to work on the next
set of coloring. After that's all done, then I will letter all the pages.
There will be more updates on this to come. But again, for those of
you that would be willing to try this, unless you can illustrate it yourself,
you had better get an artist as soon as you can.
This will probably be my last blog entry for the year, so Happy New
Year everyone!
