BLOG DIRECTORIES
I was reading online about these blog directories. What they are is kind of like a phone book of blogs for the
web. You can get on these directories, by simply submitting your blog to them. If you remember, about a
month ago, I was talking about Blog Carnivals. The carnival, however, is kind of an impermanent thing, where
the directories, once it's up, for the most part it stays up.
Submitting to a blog directory is pretty easy. All most of them require is the TITLE of your blog, the URL or
WEB ADDRESS of your blog, and a DESCRIPTION of your blog. Some of them would like you to categorize
your blog and they will usually have about 100 or more categories for you to choose from. Be careful when
you categorize your blog, because miscategorizing it can get you rejected pretty fast.
Now, my blog is mainly about writing and promoting your writing, so my categories are mainly Arts, Writing,
and Marketing. Depending on what your blog is about, you may want to pick something different.
Also, I suggest making sure your blog description tells exactly what your blog is about. And make the
description good, because many people are going to read your description before they clock on the link. It's
just like watching a really boring television commercial, you are never going to go out and buy that product,
just like a boring description is going to make people pass your blog every time.
So, I found this list of blog directories, and I've posted this list below. I've been going through and submitting to
most of these blogs. The few I haven't been submitting to are the ones you have to pay for. I am going to
suggest, you stick solely to the directories that are FREE. I've mentioned getting things for free a number of
times. And I can't stress this enough. There is going to be plenty you have to pay for, such as printing
bookmarks and business cards, and travel expenses if you do an extensive book signing tour. So, instead of
paying for sites to list your blog, go for the free ones. It doesn't pay to pay, if you catch my meaning.
Browse through this list, and see if you can get your blog submitted to it. Remember, the object is to drive as
many viewers to your site as possible. So, you want them to be able to find you in as many places as possible.
So, get yourself out there!
